DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN CAIRO AND CAIRO SIGHTSEEING

Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and assisted with airport pickup. After settling in, embark on an immersive tour of Egypt’s iconic landmarks, including:

Pyramids – The last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, the great pyramids of Giza, are perhaps the most famous and discussed structures in  history. These massive monuments were unsurpassed in height for thousands of years after their construction and continue to amaze and enthral us with their overwhelming mass and seemingly impossible perfection.

Sphinx – The Sphinx is an iconic and ancient monument located in Egypt, near the Giza Pyramids, and it has a rich history intertwined with Egyptian civilization. Estimated to be as old as 4,500 years, The Great Sphinx is one of the only surviving Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Egyptians believed that the sphinx was a representation of their solar deity, Sun God, Horemakhet or Horus of the Horizon.

Saqqara – The Saqqara necropolis is sprawling covering a very large site. Saqqara contains the oldest complete stone building complex known in history, the Pyramid of Djoser, built during the Third Dynasty. The most important things to see are the Imhotep Museum, the Step Pyramid, the Pyramid of Teti, the Serapeum, and the Mastaba of Ti to see the best of Saqqara.

Dahshur – Dahshur is an ancient Egyptian pyramid complex and necropolis located about 25 kilometres south of Cairo, on the west bank of the Nile River. It is one of the oldest and most important pyramid sites in Egypt and is home to some of the most iconic and enigmatic pyramids ever built. The pyramids of Dahshur were built during the 4th and 12th dynasties of ancient Egypt, and they represent some of the earliest and most innovative examples of pyramid construction. The most famous pyramids of Dahshur are the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, both of which were built by King Sneferu, the father of Khufu, the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

DAY 2: CAIRO SIGHTSEEING & OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO ASWAN

Start the day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel.

Delve into Cairo’s rich history and culture as you explore Civilization Museum; Coptic Cairo; Hanging Church; Khan Khalili Bazar.

Civilization Museum – The museum is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world. It presents the full range of the richness and diversity of Egyptian civilization throughout the ages, from prehistoric times to the present day by focusing on its continuity and stability as demonstrated by its tangible and intangible heritage. The museum’s exceptional collection includes the royal mummies, which are exhibited in a new interactive display using 21st century cutting-edge technology to go beneath the wrappings and reveal their secrets, in addition to shedding light on the rituals and religious beliefs surrounding mummification in ancient Egypt.

Coptic Cairo – Located within and around what was historically known as the Babylon fortress, Coptic Cairo was built around 525 BC. The compound contains many churches, a Jewish synagogue, and the Coptic museum. The area was settled in the 6th century by the Persians, who built the fortress.

Hanging Church – The Hanging Church is the most famous Coptic Christian church in Cairo, as well as possibly the first built in basilican style. The church is the site of several reported Marian apparitions. The church is built atop the southern gate of the Roman Babylon Fortress and was originally built in the 4th century AD. The Hanging Church gets its name from its unique location – it seems to be hanging from the fortress walls. The church has been renovated and restored for centuries and currently houses a library.

Khan Khalili Bazar – The Khan el-Khalili Bazaar in Cairo is a bustling, vibrant market that has been around for centuries and is a must see for anyone visiting the city. Located in the heart of Islamic Cairo, this colourful bazaar is filled with shops, stalls, restaurants, and cafes selling everything from spices to jewellery to souvenirs.

Enjoy lunch at an Indian restaurant.

Later, board the Cairo-Aswan Sleeping Train for an overnight journey, where you can unwind and rest in comfortable accommodations.

DAY 3: ASWAN SIGHTSEEING & NILE CRUISE

Breakfast will be served in the train. Arrive in Aswan in the morning and commence your Nile cruise adventure.

Explore the marvels of Aswan, including High Dam, Philae Temple.

High Dam – Aswan Dam located near Aswan, the world famous High Dam was an engineering miracle when it was built in the 1960. It contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The Dam is 11,811 feet long, 3215 feet thick at the base and 364 feet tall, Today it provides irrigation and electricity for the whole of Egypt and together with the old Aswan Dam built by the British between 1898 and 1902, 6km down river, gorgeous views for visitors, From the top of the two Mile long High Dam you can look across Lake Nassar, the huge reservoir created when it was built to Kalabsha temple in the south and the huge power station to the north.

Philae Temple – The Philae Temple Complex is one of Egypt’s most unique and historically significant sites. Located on an island in the Nile River, the complex is a collection of temples built by the ancient Egyptians over several centuries. The complex was originally dedicated to the goddess Isis, who was believed to be a mother figure and protector of Egypt.

DAY 4: NILE CRUISE & SIGHTSEEING

Embark on an early morning tour to Abu Simbel Temple, Edfu, Ombo, Crocodile Museum.

Abu Simbel – Abu Simbel Temple was constructed by the most celebrated Ancient Egyptian king Ramses II. The process of construction began in Aswan. The temple was mainly cut into a solid rock cliff. The main goal behind construction was to celebrate the victory of Ramses II that was established during the Hittites at Kadish battle in 1274 B.C.

Edfu Temple – Built during the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237 and 57 BC, the Temple of Horus at Edfu is generally regarded to be the best-preserved of the Ancient Egyptian sanctuaries. For 200 years, the structure was buried under almost 40 feet (12 metres) of desert sand and silt from the Nile, which incredibly helped to conserve it to nearperfection.

As the largest temple dedicated to Horus, one of  Egypt’s most important historic deities, statues of the falcon-headed god are found throughout the complex, and its extensive wall carvings have provided valuable information to historians about the Hellenistic period of Egyptian history: the exquisite reliefs give us insight into the religion, mythology and way of life during the era.

Kom Ombo – The perfect example of a halfand-half temple. This temple honours two gods, the falcon god Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. You can also see original colours in this temple which stood the test of time. The falcon half has intact ceilings and the crocodile half also has mummified crocodiles shown at the exhibit.

Crocodile Museum – This unique museum showcases artifacts, mummified crocodiles, crocodile eggs, wooden sarcophagi and crocodile fetuses, and depictions of crocodile deities and rituals that provide insight into the significance of crocodiles in ancient Egyptian culture.

DAY 5: NILE CRUISE (LUXOR) & SIGHTSEEING

Experience the enchanting ambience of Luxor. Explore the ancient wonders of Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, immersing yourself in the rich history of the region.

Karnak Temple – Karnak is an open-air museum. It is considered to be the largest religious building or site in the world. The 54,000 square feet Great Hypostyle Hall in the Karnak Temple is large enough to fit the Cathedral of Notre Dame comfortably. The Temple of Karnak was believed to be the spot where creation began. They also believed it was a point of interaction between the god Amun-Ra and Egyptians. It is important to Egypt’s cultural history because it was a place of worship and provides clues about the ancient Egyptian religion.

DAY 6: LUXOR SIGHTSEEING AND TRANSFER TO HURGHADA

Discover the treasures of Luxor with visits to the Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

Valley of the Kings – The Valley of the Kings is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. Found near Luxor, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to some of the most spectacular tombs and monuments built by ancient Egyptians. During the New Kingdom’s period of ancient Egyptian (1539-1075 B.C.), the Valley of the Kings was the major burial ground for most of the royal pharaohs. The most famous pharaohs buried there were Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II .

Colossi of Memnon – The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues located in the ancient city of Thebes in Egypt. These statues are believed to have been built during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep III in the 14th century BC. They were initially part of a much larger temple complex, but all that remains today are the two statues that stand guard at the entrance. Colossi of Memnon symbolize the rule of the king over Egypt. The three figures in the statues, Amenhotep III, his wife Tiye, and his mother Mutemwiya are all symbols of rebirth. They have withstood all the natural disasters that they faced.

The Temple of queen Hatshepsut – Luxor is blessed with a number of heavenly pieces of art that highlight the extraordinary elements on which this great civilization was built and showcase all the reasons why Hatshepsut was the greatest pharaoh in the history of ancient Egypt. The temple of Hatshepsut is the finest example of the brilliant architecture that once existed during the days of ancient Egypt.

DAY 8: CAIRO SIGHTSEEING

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a tour of Cairo’s renowned attractions, including the Egyptian Museum, Citadel of Saladin, and Cave Church.

Egyptian Museum – The Egyptian Museum has the most important pieces of Ancient Egyptian art including the Yuya and Tjuyu treasures, the Tanis Gold, and the iconic pieces of Old Kingdom statuary and art like the Narmer Palette, the Djoser serdab         statue,Khafre Enthroned, and the Menkhaure Triads.

Citadel of Saladin – The Saladin Citadel in Cairo is a breathtaking testament to architectural and historical grandeur. DAY 9: ALEXANDRIA

Explore its cultural gems, such as the Library, National Museum, Royal Jewellery Museum, Kom El Dikka, Pompei Pillar, and Catacombs. Immerse yourself in Alexandria’s rich history and heritage.

Library – Located near the site of the ancient library of Alexandria, this modern version is an eleven-story, cylindrical-shaped building that houses more than eight million books. A re-imagining of Alexandria’s ancient Great Library, this gorgeously designed cultural centre contains a host of museums as well as one of the modern world’s most ambitious libraries. Its architecture – a giant sun disk – presides over the waterfront Corniche, while inside, a huge reading room can hold eight million volumes. Below the main library, visitors can explore a range of beautifully curated exhibitions. The Manuscript Museum with its magnificent collection of ancient texts and scrolls and the Antiquities Museum with its Graeco-Roman antiquities and statuary found during underwater exploration in the harbor are the two prime attractions. But there are also rotating art exhibitions, a permanent Egyptian folk art collection, and a Science Museum and Planetarium that are aimed squarely at children.

National Museum – Opened in 2003 in a historic villa, the Alexandria National Museum offers a carefully curated journey through the history of Egypt’s second city since its foundation in the fourth century BC. The underwater archaeological finds are fascinating, as are the GrecoRoman discoveries, while ancient Egyptian treasures come from around the country.

Royal Jewellery Museum – Located in the neighbourhood of Zizenia in Alexandria city, Royal Jewellery Museum Alexandria indeed is one of the largest Museums in Egypt. Moreover, it has a surface area of around 4185 meters .Royal Jewellery Museum Alexandria hosts the most valuable displays. They include the jewellery and the ornaments which queens and princesses of the last royal family of Egypt wore.

Moreover, the building of Royal Jewellery Museum Alexandria itself is truly marvellous. In fact, it housed in the palace of Princess Fatema El Zahraa. It indeed is a rare piece of architectural art that constructed in the 19th century. Some of the displays of the museum date back to the period of Mohamed Ali Pasha.

Pompei’s Pillar – The Pompei’s Pillar, an architectural wonder, is located amidst the ruins of the Serapeum in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria. It is one of the largest monoliths of the ancient times. The pillar stands tall on a rocky plateau in stark contrast to the surrounding ruins of the Serapeum. Steps leading down from the pillar blend into the ruins of the temple. Two sphinx statues are also present near the base of the Pompey’s Pillar.

Kom el-Dikka – Kom el–Dikka In the heart of modern Alexandria lie the remains of a once vibrant and sprawling complex known today as Kom el–Dikka. The ruins of Kom el–Dikka offer visitors a glimpse of an ancient Roman cityscape complete with theatre, public baths, houses, and palatial villas. What was once a Roman town found itself neglected and largely forgotten, only to be rediscovered and excavated in 1960.

Catacombs – The catacombs of Alexandria, also known as Kom el-Shoqafa or “mound of shards’’ in Arabic, is one of the seven wonders of the medieval world. The structure was re-discovered in September 1900. The catacombs are a rare fusion of Hellenistic, Egyptian and early Imperial Roman architecture featuring dozens of chambers adorned with sculpted pillars, statues, and other syncretic Romano-Egyptian religious symbols, burial niches, sarcophagi, as well as a large Roman-style banquet room where memorial meals were conducted by relatives of the deceased.
