  QUEENSTOWN TO WANAKA
There are two scenic drive options between Queenstown and Wanaka, over the mountainous Crown Range or alongside the rivers and lakes, through Cromwell. Wanaka is a perfect location for those looking for all the splendour of the southern lakes but a more relaxed ambiance than Queenstown.

At the Gates of Haast, a series of rapids creates a waterfall effect as the racing glacial waters thunder below the road. 15 June 25 GLACIER REGION TO GREYMOUTH (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Travel through scenic rainforests and past flowing rivers towards Hokitika, known for its pounamu (jade, greenstone). This region is steeped in gold and coal mining history and set on a former gold rush site; the replica “Shantytown” is a short detour off the main highway. Sunsets can be magic on the West Coast with the sun going down over the sea and the snow-capped mountains to the east tinged with a rosy, soft pink glow.

  Hokitika

A true photogenic gem — brilliant turquoise water fringed with stark white limestone cliffs and lush green rainforest — Hokitika Gorge is one of the West Coast’s most instantly recognisable scenes.

It’s also one of the easiest to access. An easy, well-formed forest trail leads to this visual feast representing nature’s most glorious colour palette.

Greymouth

Greymouth is famous primarily for being the largest town on New Zealand’s West Coast, known for its rich mining history, particularly coal mining, and as the home of the well-regarded Monteith’s Brewery; it’s also notable for its access to high-quality pounamu (New Zealand greenstone/jade) which local artisans carve, and the nearby Brunner Mine Historic Area, a significant site for early coal mining in the country.
